El trabajo de Omar Torres (1977) se construye de las emociones humanas, se nutre del sentir cotidiano de nuestra existencia y la búsqueda incansable de mantenernos en un balance emocional. Mediante el control total de sus instalaciones los objetos funcionan como una síntesis del ser humano.

 

Con objetos Torres representa situaciones de resistencia y tolerancia en la vida. Sus elementos dependen uno del otro para poder coexistir en un espacio, la tensión se concentra en detalles que nos remite al instante previo a caer. La constante transparencia en los objetos guarda relación con la idea del cuerpo como elemento transparente que nada puede ocultar o disimular; el dolor pesa, la tensión cansa y el equilibrio agota.

 

La relación y dependencia que tienen todos los elementos en sus imágenes nos recuerda los lazos emocionales que tenemos con otras personas. Torres construye y representa con pocos elementos el estado óptimo que se encuentra en un delicado equilibrio, bello por su impermanencia.

The work of Omar Torres (b. 1977) is built around our emotions, nourished by the daily feelings of our existence and the tireless search to find an emotional balance. Through the exertion of  total control in his installations, the objects function as a synthesis of the human being.

 

Through objects Torres represents situations of resistance and tolerance in life. The elements within the frame depend on each other to coexist in a space. The constant use of transparency within the objects serves to convey the idea of ​​the body as a transparent element with nothing to hide or disguise; pain is heavy, tension tiresome and balance draining.

 

The relationship and dependence between the elements in his images remind us of the emotional ties  and links we have with other people. With just a few elements, Torres builds and represents the optimal state; this being a delicate balance, beautiful for its impermanence.
